I finished Week 1. I have my rest day tomorrow, thank the Lord.
I told my hubby that I can count on 1 hand the amount of times I have worked out 6 days in a row since I’ve known him!
Jillian Michaels Body Revolution is a 90 day program divided into 3 phases. And, if you have ever done any Jillian Michaels dvd’s, you know she doesn’t mess around. The program incorporates both cardio and strength training.
This first week was:
Day 1: Workout 1
Day 2: Workout 2
Day 3: Cardio
Day 4: Workout 1
Day 5: Workout 2
Day 6: Cardio
Pretty simple.
So far, I have lovedlovedloved the strength training. Once I figured out which weights I need to use (everything from 3-20 lbs), I find I can make the workouts as hard as I want to. But, Jill (as I like to call my BFF) also incorporates body weight exercises which for me, are always challenging. I find that Jillian incorporates A LOT of HIIT training methods.
Something I always have issues with are core workouts. I am so weak in my core, it is ridiculous. I love that both Workouts 1 and 2 include work on the core. Not a ton, but definitely enough for me. This is always so challenging for me, but I know I NEED it. Even if it makes me think of Jillian like this:
The cardio is a little ‘meh’ to me. You do the SAME CARDIO DVD ALL MONTH. I don’t know if I will be able to do this. The first time I did the video it was too repetitious for me. And torturous. All those terrible ‘ous’ words. The second time I did the cardio dvd, I could definitely tell it was easier, but it wasn’t really very fun and I just hated Jillian through the entire thing. Seriously, if I believed in karma, all my bad thoughts during that workout would have made me a cockroach in my next 3 lives.
I do have to say that I also I hated the cardio because I have zero coordination. Maybe it will be better than third time around, but I’m sorry… I am TERRIBLE at the running man exercise. I did better the second time I did the DVD, but I am sure I looked ridiculous trying to coordinate my legs and arms to work together. I am going to give myself an ‘out’ by replacing the cardio dvd with another type of tough cardio if I choose. However, I am going to do the dvd at least once a week so that I can see if I can improve at it. It’s. just. so. boring.
Soap, that was the first week. I was freakin’ dedicated to making it through the first week, despite my crazy schedule.
I’ll keep you updated on the second week. 🙂
I have the Body Revolution – its great! you see your body changing quickly! and I love when she says she can see you through your tv & she will break it & beat your ass!!!! Good luck! I’m doing a strict diet for 6 wks with walking/yoga then I’m starting Body Revolution again!
What diet are you doing?
