Today I set out for an easy 3 miles. I took Lumi with me, and though running is normally more difficult with her, I figured it would be easy breezy.
Not so much.
I started getting a side cramp just after a mile out, and had to slow down. Then slow down a little more. Then stop. I walked the rest of the way out and back, and it still didn’t go away. I think I am going to still do my long run on Sunday for my 1/2 training and just see how it goes.
I know sometimes it is best to just listen to my body. Tomorrow, I am going to do a new Yoga/core video I bought and hopefully some stretching will help! I also know I haven’t been getting as much rest as I should. I hope to try to catch up the next few nights. 🙂
I refuse to give up though. I am going to finish a half marathon!!
Why is it so much harder running with Lumi? Because she is totally distracted! By everything!
“OMG AN APPLE CORE!”
“OMG A LEAF!!!!”
“OMG HERE’S A PIECE OF TRASH THAT SMELLS LIKE DEATH!! NOW I’M GONNA TRY TO RUN AWAY FROM MOM AND EAT IT EVEN THOUGH I’M ON A LEASH!*!*!*”
She reminds me of Doug from the movie Up.
She’ll try to run and chomp on whatever she’s got in her mouth like it’s some yummy treasure. I end up prying trash out of her mouth every quarter mile. She also loves to come to a dead stop directly in front of me. I have enough trouble staying upright on my own two feet while running, let alone with a cute lab mix trying to trip me. And THAT is why Lumi doesn’t come with me on my long runs anymore. Even part way.
She is awfully cute though. 🙂
