On days like these.

I wake up and the first thought in my head is that my ankles hurt. My ankles. I haven’t done any running in days and I didn’t overdo anything yesterday. I even ate pretty healthily.  But, there it is.  My ankles hurt.

I start to move to sit up and my shoulder joints hurt.  My back hurts. I feel stiff like my body is made of wood and I should be creaking.

I reach for my cell phone and clumsily drop it. My wrists hurt. My finger joints are swollen.

I force myself out of bed.

And so the day begins.

On days like these I just want to lay in bed and just be.

But I can’t, and so I don’t.

There are two little ones who need me. Need me to be a normal mom.  And it kills me.  I don’t want them to see me cry into my husband’s shoulder. I don’t want to be so stiff I can barely bend over to pick them up.  I want to be strong when I feel so weak.

So I tell myself I’ll take today one step at a time.

I take some otc pain meds and I feel a little less creaky.

I pick up one of my little boys and feel his little arm wrap around me. He turns his little face towards me, looks in my eyes and I know I can do this.  I am fighting this, and he is one of the many reasons why.

On days like these, I may move a little slower. The house is going to be a little messier. My to-do list may only consist of: take a shower. But I remind myself why I’m here, and that people love me, and no matter what I don’t give up.

Just one step at a time, Lupie.

Cowboy-themed, obviously.  I think everyone had a good time, including the boys, which was extremely important to me.  SO much planning went into that day, but I had fun doing it. 🙂

Their birthday was on Thursday and I made a video highlighting this past year. I cry a little every time I watch it.  I hope you enjoy it!

I never knew I could love two little humans so much. 🙂

34 Weeks Twins Pregnancy Update

34 weeks twins

How far along? 34 weeks

Size of Babies: Our babies are the size of cantaloupes! All this fruity talk is making me hungry for fruit salad. 🙂

Total weight gain/loss: About 20-25 m/l.  I am 20 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight, but had lost a little and gained it back.  I can tell I’ve really lost some muscle, but overall I think I’ve gained mostly baby/pregnancy weight.

Symptoms: Swelling like a crazy person, mainly just in my legs and feet.  Braxton Hicks: I’ll go a few days with just a couple each day, then I will have a day like yesterday where it seemed like I was having them non-stop.  I think it is mainly just on days where I tend to over-do it with house cleaning or walking.  It stinks because I really don’t like just sitting around all the time.

Maternity clothes? We’re getting so close to the end I am not buying anymore maternity clothes… but I have 1 pair of jeans left that fit across this belly. 🙁

Stretch marks? Yep.  Just a good sign these little rugrats are growing in there!

Best moment this week: Seeing my belly really grow. These boys are getting big!

Miss Anything? Sleep. Being comfortable. Wine.

Movement: I thought movement was supposed to start slowing down… but these boys must be acrobats!

Food cravings: Ice water, milk, juice, ICED TEA (yum!)

Anything making you queasy or sick: Mexican food and meat. Yes, still.

Have you started to show yet:  Well, I’d say so.

Labor Signs: Nada!

Belly Button in or out? It’s still an innie but is poking out a bit at the same time? So weird.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or Moody most of the time: More moody. Poor husband.

Looking forward to: Holding these little babies.

Quick recap of week 34!

So what was new in my 34th week?  Measuring 40 weeks along!  My OB checked me and my cervix has thinned slightly. I had my Strep B test (which came back negative).  It’s been hard to believe that these little guys could get here anytime!  My OB did tell me that at my 36 week appointment we will schedule my induction. Crazy!! That isn’t too far from now!!!

I am meeting with my OB and the perinatologist weekly now.  Had my second non-stress test, where neither of the boys were very awake.  They got buzzed… a lot. Poor little guys! They jump so hard when they have to buzz them.  We had a super quick ultrasound to check their fluid and heartbeats and then we were back out the door.  Good news: Baby B is still head down. 🙂

promise to get pictures of the nursery here soon!  Now it’s time for bed for this ole pregnant gal, I am so tired!

31 Weeks Twin Pregnancy Update

I feel so behind! Really not with just my blog, but with most things going in my life right now.  It isn’t helping much that I just move slower anyway with these two babies in my belly. 😉

fbc3428a-6c6b-4d42-8212-79545eacc5e1

How far along? 31 weeks

Size of Babies: Our babies are the size of pineapples. How cute. 🙂

Total weight gain/loss: Up 15 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight.

Symptoms: Lots of indigestion and heartburn. Lots of Braxton Hicks contractions… and I think my first REAL contraction! There was just one though, and no other symptoms, so I wasn’t worried. My feet and legs have started swelling.  I’m also having trouble sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Maternity clothes? Growing out of some of my favorites. 🙁

Stretch marks? On the very front of my belly.

Best moment this week: Working on the nursery.

Miss Anything? Sleep. Guess these boys are prepping me for when they get here.

Movement: So much movement!  They keep saying this should slow down since they may be getting more and more cramped in there, but I haven’t noticed much of a difference yet.

Food cravings: Water. Fruity drinks. Milk!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Mexican food and meat. STILL!

Have you started to show yet: People now ask how much longer I have. 🙂 “Must be soon.”

Labor Signs: Just that one contraction! Otherwise nothing!  They need to keep cookin’ in there!

Belly Button in or out? Still there!

Wedding rings on or off? On, but I have noticed some swelling here and there in my hands. Might be because we have had some warmer weather also.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Just uncomfortable, which makes me kind of grumpy.

Looking forward to: Seeing these sweet little faces!

And now for a few maternity pics! My sister, Sara was kind enough to take some pictures for us while we were all away for the weekend.  Check out her Facebook page! She has done some amazing photos for us, including our engagement pictures and our Pregnancy Announcement. I can’t wait until the boys get here and she can take some pictures of them. 🙂

28 Week Ultrasound

Ultrasound days are my absolute favorites!

The boys are already starting to get a little crowded in there and it is hard to see their little faces. Therefore we were lucky with the two pics I’m going to share with you!

28 weeks us for blog 2

Here is Baby B – We couldn’t get a look at his face but this is his head and his hand… almost like he is deep in thought. 🙂

28 weeks us for blogAnd here is Baby A and his pretty spine!

We heard nothing but great news at this ultrasound.  They each have a good amount of fluid.  They’re both measuring right at the 50th percentile. They think they both weigh about 2.5 lbs (within a couple ounces of each other).  And the best news??  Baby A is head down!!  Baby B is still breech, and as I have been able to totally feel: his head is directly in my right rib area. Keep your fingers crossed Baby A stays where he is and maybe Baby B will flip around to follow his brother.  If Baby A stays head down, my ob says we will still shoot for a vaginal birth!

I’ll be back to update about Week 28 and our trip out of town this weekend!

23 Weeks Pregnancy Update!

Though we are officially 24 weeks today, but I wanted to update about this past week.download

No picture of the bump from this week, just kept forgetting as we were super busy!

How far along? 23 weeks

Size of Babies: The size of grapefruits!

Total weight gain/loss: Yep, but haven’t weighed myself in awhile.

Symptoms: Some food aversions are hanging around, I’m still not 100% back on meat. Like the idea of eating a plain chicken breast makes me want to throw up a little bit,but at least I can eat meat ON stuff now and not be grossed out.  Rib pain is here to stay I have a feeling. I’m guessing it is Baby B, but he is seriously living inside my ribs. Makes it hard to sit in the car for my 1 hour commute or just sit on the couch and watch tv.  Heartburn/indigestion: almost daily. Braxton Hicks when I’m pretty active, though while laying in bed I had one last night.

Maternity clothes? 24/7.

Stretch marks? None yet.

Best moment this week: Feeling real movements and not just kicks and punches. I can feel them turning and rolling movements now. Pretty awesome.

Miss Anything? Sleep, dear sleep. Feeling comfortable in my skin. Feeling comfortable in bed. Poor A, has to deal with me tossing and turning all night. Getting up to pee 35019384019824 times and complaining 24/7.  Sorry dear.

Movement: See above! They have definite awake/sleep times now.  They love to have parties around 3-4 am.

Food cravings: Water, if you consider that a food. I am constantly thirsty. Carby stuff. Fruit. Not much else.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Meaty smells. Leftover unheated food smells.

Have you started to show yet: I think it being so cold and wearing bulky coats in public has saved me from public view too much so far… but I caught a lady checking out my bump at the grocery store last night and smiling.  At least I think she was checking out my bump. 😛

Labor Signs: No real labor signs.

Belly Button in or out? In, but I’m losin’ it.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy, but it’s hard to be pleasant when I feel so uncomfortable.

Looking forward to: Holding my babies.
